Summary: Great Fan, not a great shipping policy
Comment: After reading all the reviews we decided to purchase this fan. It seemed like a great value, however once you add the shipping, the value isn't quite as good. We love the actual fan. We ordered two of them and have been very pleased. The one thing that I was not pleased with was there return shipping policy. One of the fans arrived badly broken. We went through the selling company's system to return it and they did take it back and refund us, be we were out the return shipping costs, which, even USPS ground, was nearly $20. So it was a waste of money for us. The one fan we kept is great though, I am just not sure I would buy something this big that is also plastic online again, the shipping is expensive and the risk of it breaking is too high, I will go to the store next time.

Summary: Many years of service
Comment: I had one of these fans that ran great for about 6 years....being used every day. I like noise when I sleep at night and that was the primary function of this fan.....although it was so quiet that I needed to use it on medium or high to get the noise I wanted. Good fan though and I will likely replace my dead one with another one just like it. I'm surprised they still make this one and sell it.

Summary: i don't need air conditioning anymore!
Comment: I bought this fan last week to tie me over before I replace my broken air conditioner.. turns out I would quickly become a big fan of this fan and forgo the a/c replacement job. We are in the middle of an NYC heatwave right now and sleeping with this fan feels like tropical luxury - serious! It's lightweight, quiet, cool, easy to tote, tilts up or down and saves me money!

Comment: The Wind Machine fan by Lasko is exactly the way it is advertised here on [...]. It comes already assembled so setup is a breeze--just remove it from the box, set it up on a table and turn it on! The three speeds all operate relatively quietly and the fan gets the air circulating rather quickly.
The price is right for what you get: my own fan is just about two years old now and it still works strong and hard to create good air flow. The Wind Machine also cools the room down on days when you can't use an air conditioner or when you simply don't want to use one.
I recommend that the fan stand on a flat surface about three or four feet high so that the air current it creates reaches you whether you're lying down or walking around the room. It is economical in that it won't make your electric bill spike upward, too.
Overall, this is a great fan and I highly recommend it as just about the best fan out there in this size and price range. It will not disappoint you!
