Works well in both respects and they look nice. I like the dual ends-- one spoonish end for scooping and the other sharper end is more like a little fork. Ours are still new, so they look great. If they do dull down a bit, I still think that's a five star rating (unless you are using them in your own restaurant, I guess!) Cosmetically, over time they get scratched up when used to get into the nooks and crannies of hardshell crab. Functionally, though, they work well.
