Customer Rating: Summary: Makes breakfast a snap! Comment: I got this for my husband for Christmas and we made a huge breakfast complete with french toast and bacon from this griddle. It lays nicely on the stove and cooks great. Our only complaints were that it didn't come with a shred of directions on how to season it or clean it or anything, and it was a bit pricey!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Grill/Griddle Comment: This is a very good grill. It heats and holds heat very well, and does a pretty good job of heating evenly, although there are "hot spots" on the grill in between the 2 burners.
A tip from my wife for cleaning is to put a damp paper towel over the grill when you finish cooking, and after it has cooled a little and letting it set. It makes clean-up a lot easier.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous Giant Grill/Griddle Comment: I have used the grill side several times since purchasing it and am VERY pleased. It is a little pricey but it also has a coating that a Lodge or other cast iron grill/griddles don't have.I also believe the grill marks are superior to other grills. Tough to fit into the budget but I think it was worth it! First of all, for those people that are getting rust spots after washing, you must dry your griddle by reheating it until any excess water evaporates. I then rub a light coat of oil into the pan when it's still slightly warm. If you have the rust spots just wash the grill with a brush and follow the drying and oiling process I explained above. You should quickly build a nice patina to your grill. It should only take a few times of doing this because of the enamel type coating. BEFORE using this grill I washed it in VERY hot tap water with a brush to remove any coating that was put on at the time of manufacturing. This should also help with sticking food. I have also coated the pan heavily with oil the first few uses. I've grilled delicate fish and shrimp with no sticking. After it becomes somewhat coated you can build on this by just wiping it with a damp cloth and drying on the burner. At this point any sticking should be minimal. Don't use anything abrasive. Good luck and I hope this helps.
Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful presentation, questionable price Comment: I've used this grill/griddle at work instead of our standard grill due to it's tighter grill pattern. The "bars" are very close together compared to a normal grill and the presentation was BEAUTIFUL on petite 2-3oz filets. The numerous and tight crosshatch pattern was very appealing to the eye on the little medallions as opposed to the 2 lines each way i could sqeeze on the little medaillions. The tight pattern also means more contact area which equals more caramelization and flavor. I was so impressed, I went on amazon to see how much it would cost me to have one at home. I personally wouldnt spend the money, but I must admit that the presentation is beautiful.
Cast iron is cast iron. If it sticks and/or rusts, it's because it is NOT coated or seasoned properly. Amazon and people's reviews mention an enamel coating, but im fairly sure it is not coated. I will admit I have not seen it new out of the box, but the one I used at work looked like unfinished cast iron that had been well seasoned from years of use and NOT like typical Le Creuset enameled cookware. If you look at Le Creuset's grill pan that comes in different colors, you'll notice only the outside is enameled and the cooking surface is unfinished and requires seasoning.
If you can swing the price tag, this is a nice grill. But in the end, it's still just a piece of cast iron. From what I gather, Le Creuset charges a fortune for their enamel coating, but since this piece appears to be lacking that, all you're really paying for is the name and a different pattern in the casting.
-1 star due to price only
broken grills should be blamed on the delivery monkeys or amazon, not this grill. It's cast iron, not forged steel.
Customer Rating: Summary: Everything sticks and it rusts Comment: The title says it all. Food sticks to it. Especially the grill side. It leaves pieces of the chicken breast all over the grill and it's tough to clean. After you do clean it, there are rust spots all over it, so you have to clean it before you use it again! Go with non-stick or cast iron.

Produced in France, and crafted from a cast-iron base, this rectangular pan is coated on both sides with slightly textured black enamel. Over time, it will develop a fine stick-resistant surface. Oil the pan before use, heat slowly, and maintain moderate temperatures for best results. Use the griddle side for pancakes, French toast, or sandwiches, all of which emerge crisp and golden brown. The grill side's rounded grilling grids, set close together at an angle, produce excellent grill marks. Both sides cook food rapidly and evenly. Please note this item is not recommended for Ceramic/Glass stovetops.
