Customer Rating: Summary: A huge disappointment Comment: Until recently I used the more expensive Breadman machines, but after reading many positive reviews of this top-rated Zojirushi machine, I bought one. I've never been more disappointed. The 1 1/2 lb setting produced three distinct clumps of dough, the 2 lb fruit and nut setting failed to integrate either my chopped pecans or my raisins, leaving them strewn along the bottom of the bread, the whole wheat recipes from my trusted bread machine recipe books overwhelmed its paddles. I bought this machine on the advice of a friend who owned a smaller Zojirushi bread machine. She advised me to not purchase the Breadman, which was cheaper.
Having two mixing paddles was very important to her. She used her bread machine daily. Still does. I'm thankful for her advice.
I use this about once a month, & often on the dough cycle. I got the idea to buy a bread machine from a newspaper article of a book, Rustic Euoropean Breads From Your Bread Machine (Linda West Eckhardt & Diana Collingwood Butts).
The bread I make most often is struan from the above-mentioned book. It has no fat & is multi grain. I throw the ingredients in & bread happens. It is fab.
I have had great success with this appliance. If you want a certain type of crust, use the dough cycle. It's less work than kneading.
