Summary: Holmes Window Fans
Comment: We recently purchased two Holmes window fans because our previous experience with Holmes has been excellent. Our older fans (five years) are still working (exception of one) that finally gave out.
The new fans are duplicate style but the system of setting is different and a little more complicated. Something you just have to adapt to and do a little practicing. For those who are impatient! it may be frustrating but the fans are worth the effort. We do not have air conditioning so they have proved to be a blessing during the hottest phase of summer here in the mountains.
We would have no qualms at all about the Holmes products if these window fans - both older version and latest ones - are examples of their workmanship. The price for these fans $39.99/40.00 is more than reasonable and well worth the cost, as the electricity usage is minimal for the job they do.

Summary: Not so good for the bedroom
Comment: First of all, you can hear the motor while it's running. If this thing had good, brushless, DC motors in it, that wouldn't happen. The sound of air moving is not bad at all while your are trying to sleep, but the hum of a motor is a little bit annoying. It isn't very loud, but I shouldn't be able to hear it at all.
The worst part, and what compounds with my first complaint, is the thermostat. Most thermostats that are used to control temperature have a set span between the temperature that will turn on the device and the temperature that will turn off the device, usually about 5 degrees. So, for example, the thermostat in your house, if set at 72, probably turns on the heat at 70 and off at about 75. This window fan does not do that. If you set it at 65, when it registers 65 it will turn on until it registers 64. With the thermostat necessarily being on the device itself, this makes for a night of 20 seconds of fan off, followed by 10 seconds of fan on, all night long. You get used to it, but at first it may drive you nuts.
Given a second chance, I wouldn't buy this fan.

Summary: great fan for the price
Comment: was looking for a fan that would fit my kitchen window, it is a side slider with a screen ad this fits perfetly without pushing my screen out, cools great too. I haven't used all the setting and stuff yet, but I am VERY glad I fond this!

Summary: Great Window Fan!
Comment: I use this fan to drop the temperature of the house at night. It really works great! It does make sound, but is very quiet! The air output is good too. It is not going to make a wind tunnel in your house or anything, but it moves the air at a good pace.
The dual fans are really nice. I put the fan in my window next to my bed, so sometimes I turn one fan on, and leave the other off, or on low, so it does not directly chill me. It is a very nice fan, and I really enjoy it!

Summary: Quiet, Fast, Accurate Fan, I highly recommend it
Comment: This is the ideal window fan. I've been using it for 2 years and since then, I've convinced everyone in my family to go out and buy this fan. This fan is very quiet and it runs smoothly. The best feature is the temperature control. You can set the minimum temperature and go to sleep without having to worry about getting up and turning the fan off if the room becomes too cold. In my room, as soon as the temperature drops below 68 degrees, the fan shuts off until the temperature begins to rise above 68. The fan is excellent quality and it should last you years.
The only negative is that it's hard to clean this fan. I've had it for 2 years and I had to clean the fan wings and the fan bars from inside and out. I broke some hinges in trying to open the fan.
