It not only looks and feels great, but it's a set you can use for everyday use and for fancy dinners.
The tray is nice too, very sturdy and looks and feels just as great as the flatware set.
my husband is picky about his flatware. He likes them to be heavy and to not only be sturdy but also to feel just as sturdy. this set is great because it's just perfect in weight and size and there's nothing i don't like about it.

Comment: I bought this exact same 40-piece flatware set almost 6 years ago and it has maintained its beauty. The flatware is very strong and durable. I love it so much I have returned to buy more since we have lost some of the pieces over the years.

Summary: Just purchased in Jan 2007
Comment: I found the other reviews helpful about the quality. I hope I feel the same after I use it for awhile! I just purchased my set at Bed, Bath & Beyond this week. Original price was $129 and I got the set, with drawer, on their clearance for $62.99....that is the lowest price I have found anywhere. I have always been pleased with other Mikasa purchases I have made....always the quality met or exceeded the price I paid. I have not found a price any lower on line either.

Summary: Good, Clean & Solid Set
Comment: After years of using the remnants of at least half a dozen other sets I've inherited from family, friends and former roommates... I broke down and decided to seek out a nice set of flatware to call "my own".
I had always known Mikasa for their crystal and glassware, but never for flatware. That has changed. I find the weight of the set very nice (solid) and the feel of each piece well-balanced. This set looks elegant and goes quite well with the decor I chose for my dining area, too. Not so elegant that everyday use will be out of the question, though.
Though not really all too important, the wooden tray accompanying the set will come in handy. Already had a flatware tray but it never hurts to have a spare one waiting in the wings.
The reviews I read previously warned of spots from dishwashers, etc. Thus far I have not had any problems with that. No more so than with any other item I have ever placed in the dishwasher. I would advise people to test their water for hardness. Perhaps they have excess calcium, lime, metals, etc. in their water and should consider installing a softener?
Word of caution: Do take care NOT to use abrasive surfaces on the set as they WILL scratch easily. Since the pieces contain no wood, prolonged soaking in hot, soapy water ought to loosen up any stubborn food particles enough that you may remove them with a simple dish cloth or sponge.
Overall, I love the set and will seek out another in the future when the number of people in my household expands!

Summary: Beautiful Style, Wonderful Quality!
Comment: I ordered two of these sets, as well as the hostess set. I wanted to be sure to have enough in case they are discontinued. I went out on a limb here, as I'd only seen them in the pictures, but decided that at this great price it was worth the risk. I was very impressed! Each piece is quality stainless steel, well balanced, and the contemporary styling is exactly what I was looking for. Even the box is attractive, and fits well in my drawer. As a professional chef, I do a lot of at-home entertaining, and my standards are probably higher than most. I feel this cutlery will remain durable and in excellent condition for many years to come. I highly recommend.
