Customer Rating: Summary: My first dutch oven - works well, but has chipped; wrong picture in product description! Comment: I bought this on 2/17/2007 for $20 and it actually has a domed stainless steel lid and right-angled metal handles, not the glass lid or angled handles as shown in the current picture. So far, I've used it to roast pork and chicken and both times, the dishes turned out well. I've not used it very often since I bought it, but now it has a 2mm round chip on the inside near a handle - you can actually see the inner layer. I don't know how that happened as I take good care of my pots and pans, and have only used wooden or nylon utensils in it, and handwashed it. I've boiled water in it (Cincinnati has bad-tasting water and boiling and filtering seems to work) as far as I can remember, I've only used it in the oven twice, and to cook something soupy on the gas stove top maybe 3 times. The chip has started to rust, so it'll probably go in the trash real soon.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very nice Dutch oven Comment: In case you've tried to replace your Dutch oven for your set, you'll know that they're horrifically hard to find by themselves (not in a set) and if you do, they cost about 8 million. This pan was around thirty dollars online at boscovs and is well worth the price. My Tfal Dutch oven finally died after 13.5 years of constant use, loved, loved, loved that pan and I'm horrifically disappointed it's gone. When the teflon starts to peel however, well, it's the old trashcan for sure! I found this one online in my numerous hours of searching and was almost going to buy another set of Tfal before I found this pan. It's been great - lightweight, very easy to clean, and has done a wonderful job on everything I've put in it. I couldn't be happier, except if it came in colors, purple to be specific. The cooking is very even, no hot spots, and it's perfect for soups. Highly, highly recommend!
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it!! Comment: Love this product. The only reason I really took this was because I was buying a Circulon set and there was an offer with the set which has this dutch oven free with the set. Who can pass such an offer? I still read the reviews before buying this and liked what I read. I used it yesterday for the first time after 5 months of buying.
And I LOVE IT!! I had a lunch housewarming party at my house and had invited about 15-16 people at my house. I used this dutch oven to cook the main dish which required me to saute 4 big chopped onions till tender and then saute the tomatoes till tender. I thought it would take a long time for that to happen as I had experienced with my other cookware. Not with this. With this, it took about 5-10 minutes till the onions were nice and tender evenly. Same with the tomatoes. I had the same quantity of onion sauteeing in another Circulon pan and it took another 5-8 minutes for that onion to get tender and it was nowhere near the same consistency. Also the onion did not burn or stick to the base of the pan. And everyone at the party was raving about my dish. Even my husband said that out of all the times that I cooked this dish, this was the best tasting (with the same recipe).
It was a pleasure cooking with this. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: couldnt be wrong at $10.00 Comment: i bought two of these at $10.00 each and they arrived in less tahn a week. great product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Buy Comment: I received this pot and was originally disappointed by it's weight. It is light and so I figured that it was probably going to not work very well. In fact it is lightweight but works as well as my heavier Calphalon pans. It is deep and holds quite a bit. I have used it for a variety of dishes and it has worked well on all.
