Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent vaccum Comment: i had a horrible Eureka altima that made my life miserable for the last two years finally die on me a few weeks ago, not only did Amazon give me a great price on this vaccum i received it quickly from UPS. it was right away put to use from box to floor, i cannot believe what that altima wasnt picking up both the regular vacuum and hand tool, i have a black couch and that powered hand tool gets everything off it and make its look all brushed and clean, and my baseboards and bare floors are finally REALLY clean as well. the on board tools are wonderful. for now i am more than pleased with this Hoover vaccum! but i've had thier All Terrain carpet cleaner for a year now and love it. not to mention my old vaccum before was a Hoover that lasted twelve years of excellent vaccuming. Give it a try!
Customer Rating: Summary: Much better than Eureka Altima Comment: This is a pretty good vacuum for the price. We bought this to replace the Eureka Altima we purchased just a couple of months before. The Altima is went out to the curb a couple of days after this sweeper arrived. The pre-filter is not as fine on this vacuum so more dirt gets through to the main filter. It's not a huge deal since on most value bagless units you have to clean the pre-filter and the main filter pretty regularly anyway. This TurboPower doesn't seem to lose power during sweeping or between filter cleanings which is nice (main reason Altima stunk). The extension hose and hand tool are more usable also.
Customer Rating: Summary: Turbo Empower Comment: The Hoover Turbo powered Empower vacuum does a very good job with it's suction on ground in dirt .Turbo boost does get the troublesome piece of hard to reach debris. The cannister is easy to clean. The vacuum though can only reach just so far under bookshelves or furniture about 6 inches above ground level.Overall does live up to its cleaning prowess on carpets but does a fine job on other surfaces.
Customer Rating: Summary: hoover vacuum Comment: Initially I thought the vacuum was too bulky, but I got used to it. I bought it for the attachments & they're easy to use. The long cord can not be wrapped up well while the vacuum is in use & this proves to be cumbersome. Do not recommend for someone who does not have much strength in the arms.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good vacuum overall . . . Comment: I've owned this vacuum for 9 months now and have only one minor complaint. First, it has excellent power for carpets (and floors). It will even pull itself along a bit just due to the brush head pulling along on the carpet. Before using the EmPower the first time, I used my old Hoover to clean my carpet. I was impressed (and distressed with my old vacuum) with how much it picked up, especially cat hair (I have two cats and a dog). The pet hair attachment works fairly well on hard to reach carpet areas and on upholstered furniture.
My minor complaint is that this is the first bagless vacuum I've ever used and it took a bit of getting used to regarding emptying the dust collection cup. It can be a tad messy but not worth going back to a bagged vacuum but I can only give it 4 stars since it's not a perfect solution for a vacuum.
One reviewer stated that the filter could not be washed and that is not true. I wash my filter every 6 weeks or so, then set it out in the sun to dry (the instruction book suggests washing it every month and then replacing it every year). As a matter of fact I wash the whole dust collection assembly every time I wash the filter. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes and it keeps the vacuum at full suction power.
Now when you empty the dust collection cup, you also have to remove the filter and knock it against the garbage can (or I take it outside and knock it against the edge of the patio) to remove dust and animal hair that has been caught in it. If you do this you will never lose any suction power.
One more note, if you suck up anything that jams the brush head you will probably break the drive belt (I did my catching hold of my son's sock under his bed that I didn't see). I got online and found a pack of 3 reasonably priced and it was fairly easy to replace.
I really like this vacuum and would recommend it to anyone, as long as you realize that there is more to using a vacuum than plugging and unplugging the power cord.
